My paternal grandfather Arturo Giovanni Malacarne was born in Starkville, Colorado. His parents owned a butcher shop right next door to his future wife's family, The Gembrin Saloon. In their early 20's they married, had four daughters and relocated several times. They finally made a home in Oakland, California where some of their family had settled.
